Comments: Actually, a 'short spear', this name is very old, but is not in the Shahnameh. It is, however, related to Choubin (which may be related to 'choub', or 'wood', thus 'spear') which is the name of a (Saasanian) Iranian General in Shahnameh, who was a factual historic figure. After the migration of Zartoshtee Persians to India (which are today known as the Parsees), the named changed to Zubin. That is a somewhat ironic, given that the sound 'zhe' (the J of the name Joubin) does not exists in Arabic and its Arabized version would have been Zoubin. Go figure!
