Demelza is the name of the heroine of the Poldark Saga, a series of twelve novels by Winston Graham (1908-2003) set in Cornwall and published between 1945 and 2002. "Demelza" (1946) is the name of the second novel in the series. Demelza first began to be used in the 1950s, but its popularity greatly increased after the success of the BBC television series "The Poldark Saga" in the 1970s.
