Meaning of this name is unknown.

Tom Sivesind says: Sivesind is a traditional Norwegian name dating back to the 12th century. Originally, "Sivesind" was spelled "Sifisinthr" - a viking spelling meaning a place a place where there were reeds ("sif") and a mountain or hillside "sinthr" met the water. The actual location of the farm by this name was on the west coast of the "Mjøsa" lake in Norway. But remember: Family names this far back are hard to trace because sons usually got their father's name with the addition of "...søn" (meaning "son") and daughters were given the name of "...datter" (meaning daughter). But if a family or workers were attached to a property of some size or impprtance, children usually adopted the farm or etatste's name as their last name - leaving out the father. So - to all you "Sivesinds" out there: One or more of your ancestors have probably worked at (or been othterwise intimate with) people originating from the "Toten" County on the west coast of the "Mjøsa"lake in Norway. Best regards from Tom Sivesind (tom@innovisjon.no) Son of Arvid Sivesind Son of Alfred Sivesind ...of Oslo, Norway.
