gabriel lahdo says: The Lahdo surname has its history in Syria And southern turkey most used by Syriacs/Assyrians, at the end of the 19th century the lahdo surname and family was based in Qamishli in syria and is now spreaded around the world. the lahdo family has faced hard times during the genocides in the south eastern turkey in 1915 where hundred of thousands Syriacs was killed due to a Nationalism mission was done where the osman empire wanted to get rid of all the christian minorities and that made the lahdo families escape down to syria and live there. one big part of the lahdo family changed their surname from suhdo to lahdo and that lahdo family had been a part of the walking family the gypsys but stayed in turkey during the 16th century and was assimilated to the society and became christians and became syriacs and after that at the beggining of the 19th century they met massacres that med them escape to the north of syria with a big group other syriacs that lived in the same village and other villages. they builded a town that today is called qamishli where about 40,000 syriacs lived before the syrian war.
