Comments:Gjurgjiali family is a very old albanian aristocratic family.There are some forms of this name like Xhurxhialo,Curcialo,Curci,Gjurgji,etc. Meaning is not easy to explain, but probaly old Turkish and to be find in Albania for more than 500 years. The roots of this family are tightly conected with the time of Sultan Mehmed I. The first recorded member of this family was Ali Bey (propably the son of Mahmud Pasha!). Ali bey was settled in Prizren/Kosovo.He had as present from Sultan a "Has" arround this town, was married with Mihnimar, the daughter of Jakup Pasha. Bayram Pasha,Shemsidin Pasha,Suleiman Pasha,Liman Pasha etc,are one of memebers of this family. Liman Pasha (an old albanien song say`s- oh Liman Pasha bir trimi,pse na ike,pse s`na prite...) was fighting against Silvio Piccolomini-an Austrian General and was killed near Nish/Serbia. After the Second World War, the members of this family were very hardly persecuted,and those from Kosovo emigrated to Turkey. This days lot of Gjurgjiali´s living all over the world: from Europe till Australia, U.S. and Canada.
