The suffix "-er" denotes a person living on or deriving from a showery hill or mountain. There is a little place named "Schauersberg", divided in "Oberschauersberg" (upper Schauersberg) and "Unterschauerberg" (lower Schauersberg), near the little town of Wels in Upper Austria. In its sorroundings since centuries this place is known as a place of pilgrimage with a little catholic church consecrated to Mary, the Mother of God, built in the late 15th century. The family name "Schauersberger" however has mainly been spread on the other side of the mountains in the Enns valley in Styria. So most likely some ancestors from the village of Schauersberg in Upper Austria crossed the mountains to settle in Styria and there, by the locals of the Enns valley, were named "Schauersberger".
