Chief Michael Opie Abosi Nwogb says: The first car in Abiriba was owned by Chief Okiyi Nwogburu Okiyi who was the first son of my grand Father (Nwogburu Okiyi). He was an Elder brother to my father (Chief Abosi Nwogburu Okiyi) of the same Father but different mother. My grand father Nwogburu Okiyi had the following children ( sons mentioned only and there were women too) Chief Okiyi Chief Kalu Chief Okebulu Chief Jombo Chief Urum Chief Abosi Chief Ironua. My father Abosi, was a toddler when the Father died. Ironua, the last was in the womb when he died which is why when he was born, the first son Okiyi named him Ironua meaning, the enemies can now rejoice that their Father had died! Okiyi Nwogburu Okiyi was a very wealthy man in his time. He lived in Calabar in his hey days. He was wealthier then than Ete Igwo Ogba of Abiriba. . My family is the Aristocrats of Abiriba. My father Abosi Nwogburu Okiyi carried the charm of aristocracy when he migrated to Cameroon as cocoa / coffee dealer and was wealthy. Now, about the name Nwogburu (nick name) originated from my grand father whose original name was Otisi. He was a warrior and customary court chief during the colonial era. He used to arrest culprits and take them to court whether they were related to him or not whether they liked it or not hence the nick name Nwogburu. His real name is Otisi. The location of the customary court which had jurisdiction for the entire Bende Division was in Port Harcourt and so to extend friendship he had to name Jombo when he was born after the Customary court Magistrate who was a Rivers man. Hence the origin of the name Jombo from Rivers. Thanks to my brother Chief Agbai Abosi Nwogburu Okiyi the family first banker and a lawyer. By Michael Opie Abosi Nwogburu Okiyi (based in Belgium)
